About Dr Leila Shahmohammadi

Dr Leila completed her Doctor of Medicine in 2009 and has spent more than 15 years working in general practice. She has been practising in Queensland since 2015 and holds Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, the standard that recognises a GP as fully trained and vocationally qualified to work independently in Australian general practice.

Much of her work centres on women’s health. Women often find it easier to talk through personal concerns with a female doctor, whether that is contraception, period problems, menopause, a cervical screening test or a breast check. She also looks after women through pregnancy, from planning and early antenatal visits through to postnatal care, working alongside the hospital where your baby will be born.

Her other interests reflect what Gold Coast patients need most. Queensland has the highest rate of skin cancer in the world, so regular skin checks are a big part of her week, and she is happy to look over one spot or do a full body check. She also supports patients with anxiety, low mood and stress, and can prepare a GP mental health care plan that gives you access to Medicare-subsidised sessions with a psychologist.

Like the rest of our team, Dr Leila sees patients of all ages for the full range of general practice and family medicine, from coughs and colds to chronic disease management and health checks.
