Your Family GP In Biggera Waters
Looking for a family doctor in Biggera Waters who will get to know your whole household? At Harbour Town Doctors, our GPs look after babies, school-age children, teenagers, parents and grandparents under one roof, so your family’s health history stays together in one place.
We are an accredited bulk billing general practice on the edge of Harbour Town Premium Outlets, open 7 days, with free parking a short walk from our door. Whether it is a sore ear on a Saturday morning, a vaccination before school, a medication review for a grandparent or a check-up you have been putting off, one of our general practitioners can help.
Our GPs treat the whole person rather than a single symptom, looking at physical health, mental wellbeing and the everyday things that affect both. When you need a specialist, test or allied health provider, your family doctor arranges the referral and keeps track of the results. Book an appointment or call 07 5222 7117.

Why A Regular Family Doctor Makes A Difference
Many families on the northern Gold Coast choose one regular GP and stay with them for years. That continuity is one of the most valuable things general practice offers, and it is the reason we encourage every patient to build a relationship with a doctor they trust.
That focus on continuity is part of how our Harbour Town clinic runs, with recall reminders and longer appointments when you need them.
Your History In One Place
Your GP builds a clear picture of your family’s medical history, allergies, medications and past test results, so you do not have to repeat your story at every visit.
Changes Picked Up Earlier
Seeing the same doctor over time makes small changes easier to notice, from a blood pressure reading that is slowly creeping up to a mole that looks different from last year.
Care That Stays Connected
Your family doctor coordinates referrals, specialist letters and results, and keeps one plan joined up when several people are involved in your care.
Wondering how a general practice compares with other types of clinics and what services they usually cover? Our guide to general practice clinics explains the differences, and you can meet the GPs on our team page before you book.
Your First Visit As A New Family Patient
Registering your family with a new GP is simple. Here is what to expect the first time you visit our medical centre at Harbour Town Premium Outlets.
Step 1
Book Your Appointment
Book through our online appointment page or call reception on 07 5222 7117 during opening hours. Walk-ins are welcome, although booking ahead is the easiest way to see the GP of your choice.
Step 2
Bring The Essentials
Your Medicare card, any concession or DVA card, a list of current medications, and your child’s health record book if you are booking for the kids.
Step 3
Arrive A Few Minutes Early
New patients complete a short registration form so we can set up your file. Let us know if you would like your records requested from your previous clinic.
Step 4
Meet Your GP
Your doctor talks through your history and what brought you in today, then plans any tests, checks or follow-up with you. From there, you can keep seeing the same GP for the whole family.
Billing details for new patients, including weekend appointments, are listed on our patient information page.
A Local Family Practice On The Northern Gold Coast
Families visit our Biggera Waters clinic from Labrador, Runaway Bay, Paradise Point, Coombabah, Hollywell and the surrounding suburbs. Being on the edge of Harbour Town Premium Outlets, opposite the Harbour Town Discount Fruit Market, makes it easy to fit a GP visit around the school run, work or the weekly shop.
Our doctors come from a range of backgrounds, which means many families can see a GP who shares their language and understands their culture. If you would prefer a female doctor for yourself or your daughter, just ask when you book.
Directions, a map and parking details are on our contact page, and answers to common questions about appointments and billing are in our patient FAQs.

Family Doctor FAQs
Answers to the questions parents and carers ask our Biggera Waters GPs most often about looking after the whole family.
Is a family doctor the same as a GP?
Yes. In Australia, family doctor is simply another name for a general practitioner, or GP. A GP is a medical doctor with further training in general practice who looks after people of every age and treats a wide range of physical and mental health concerns. Your family doctor is usually the first person to see about any new health problem.
Do you see newborns and babies?
Yes. Our GPs see patients of every age, including newborns and infants. We offer baby checks, growth and development reviews and the free vaccines on the National Immunisation Program schedule. You can read more about childhood immunisations at our clinic.
When should I take my child to a GP rather than the emergency department?
A GP is the right place for most illnesses that are worrying but not an emergency, such as a fever in a child who is otherwise alert, an earache, a rash or a cough that will not settle. Call 000 straight away if your child is struggling to breathe, is floppy or hard to wake, has a seizure, or has a rash that does not fade when pressed. Our guide to the signs your child needs a doctor covers this in more detail.
Can my teenager see a GP on their own?
Yes. Teenagers can see a GP without a parent in the room, and many find it easier to talk about personal topics that way. GPs keep these conversations confidential, except where there is a serious risk to the young person or to someone else. From 15, young people can apply for their own Medicare card through Services Australia.
How often should my family have a check-up?
It depends on age, family history and any existing conditions. Healthy young adults may only need a check every couple of years, while young children, people over 45 and anyone managing a long-term condition usually benefit from more regular reviews. Our GPs can suggest a schedule for each family member, and our guide on how often to get a health check breaks it down by age.
Can a family GP help care for an older parent?
Yes. A GP can review medications, arrange a yearly health assessment from age 75, check memory, mobility and falls risk, and coordinate with specialists, allied health and aged care services. Family members are welcome to come along to appointments with your parent's consent. Our 75+ annual health checks page has the details.
Can a family doctor help with anxiety, stress or low mood?
Yes. Mental health is a big part of general practice. Your GP can talk through how you are feeling, check for any physical causes, and, where it would help, prepare a mental health care plan that gives you access to Medicare rebates for sessions with a psychologist or other eligible provider. If you are in crisis, call 000 or Lifeline on 13 11 14.
